This code applies to all activities which take place on the event premises, or which are directly connected to events or organizing.
At Alberta Bass, we respect and honour diversity in age, gender, gender identity or expression, culture, ethnicity, language, national origin, political and religious beliefs, profession, race, colour, immigration status, education level, marital status, sexual orientation, class, socioeconomic status, ability, physical appearance, body size.
This Code of Conduct is our commitment to ensuring a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment for all. We will not tolerate discrimination based on any of the protected characteristics above.
Please be mindful of the effect your words and actions may have on others. All of us have different boundaries, so be sure to communicate and respect those of others. It is always better to ask and be mindful! If somebody tells you that you are making them uncomfortable, please stop.
Harassment and exclusionary behavior is not welcome at our events. Harassment includes:
· offensive comments or attitudes related to any protected characteristic listed above;
· racism, misogyny, sexism, ableism, classism, cultural appropriation, homophobia, transphobia, and all
other forms of discrimination and oppression, spoken, written, printed, or worn;
· deliberate intimidation, threatening, stalking, following or doxing;
· discriminatory jokes and language including mis-gendering;
· sustained/frequent disruption of workshops, talks or performances;
· inappropriate/unwanted physical contact, and unwelcome sexual or suggestive remarks;
· inappropriate use of imagery or offensive materials.
To ensure a safe and enjoyable environment for everyone, please don’t:
· Fight, throw objects or engage in other aggressive behaviors.
· Overdo it on the festivities. For those of you who choose to consume, please do so in a safe and
responsible manner. If you’re too sauced to walk, you consumed too much.
· Don’t come when you feel sick! We don’t want your germs.
· Photograph, record, or touch others (yes, even hugs and high fives. Some people really don’t like it) without explicit consent
· Engage in disruptive, destructive, or disrespectful behavior, language that makes others feel unwelcome or unsafe.
· Damage the property or disrupt livestock.
· We have zero tolerance for weapons. Don’t bring them.
Failure to comply with any of the above Code of Conduct will result in the immediate removal of the offender from the event. We reserve the right to refuse entry to any future events at our own discretion.
Maintaining a safe environment is a shared responsibility. If you see something, speak up. At any time you can come to any of the Alberta Bass staff and we will take the necessary steps to resolve the issue.
